Zeki and Juni
March 1, 2008 – 9:44 pmHello everyone,
This week has once again been very busy. The life here is Belize is so simple yet so time consuming. For instance when you do laundry, you put it in the washer and then have to hang it to dry. By the time you hang the first load you have about fifteen minutes before you hang the next. If you don’t get all your clothes on the line before about 11am they won’t dry because of the humidity. Then the cooking is all from scratch. There are not the easy meals like in the states. If you don’t have time to cook, you don’t just run into town and grab a burger or even something in the frozen food section. So you plan ahead and you make sure you start cooking dinner or making the preparations first thing in the morning.
Baby “Zeki” is doing well, we did find out he has a hernia that will eventually need to be repaired by surgery. He is so happy and for the most part a very easy baby. I can’t say it is easy to wake up in the wee hours of the night, but he is so precious. His brother “Juni” the three year old is finally starting to pick up a little English. He has been biting and hitting and we keep telling him “Juni no bite” and then we make him say sorry. Well the other day he bit Micah really hard on the nose and I was thinking oh my goodness what are we going to do with this kid, he doesn’t understand what we are saying and he keeps biting. He must of seen the look on my face and he went up to Micah and said in the sweetest voice “Sorry” and gave him a hug. I wanted to cry, here this whole time I am thinking we are not getting through and then he says sorry on his own.
Thank you to all of you that gave the baby items and boy stuff for the kids. It helped so much and was a huge relief. We truly appreciate your kindness.
We went to court this week for custody, but the mom did not show. So we hd to reschedule for next week. So please pray with us that she shows up and we are able to have everything done legally.
We had to go register the van this week because our temporary permit had expired. I can’t say I enjoyed the news that they gave. We owe $6,000 US in import duty on the van. They told me I had to pay that day and I told them I don’t have the money. So by the grace of God he gave me an extension. Which means by March 18th, I have to pay the money or they impound our van until we pay it? I was so discouraged when I left, thinking how am I going to do all this. I need money to live, money to build; now I need $6,000 for the van. Then I was reminded, it’s not about me. It’s about God and He knew all along what money we would have to have. So I stand in peace and know that God will take care of us.
Anyway, I pray you are doing well and that you are getting ready for Spring Break and Easter. I will write in a week or so.
Love,
Jervis and Melissa Fisher
