Summer, a season of change!
June 24, 2009 – 11:45 pmI pray this update finds you and your family well, and enjoying the summer. The kids got out of school a few weeks ago and have been enjoying full days of playing! They were a little disappointed when I told them they were going to have to do one hour of school work every day!
We have all been missing home these last few months, I thinkt he summer memories of camping, Water World, swimming pools, Larimer County Fair, family picnics and VBS make us miss home more. At this point we are not sure when we will get back to Colorado, but are trying to work on coming home for Christmas.
Shandice graduated from Toledo Christian Academy a few weeks ago. She is excited to be done with High School and would have been Valedictorian but they told her because she transferred it would go to the student that had been at the school longer. She was disappointed, but said she didn’t want to give a speech anyway! She is currently working in town making $1.50 US an hour; she is saving money to go to Christ for the Nations next spring. At that wage she might be waiting a few years! If we make it home for Christmas we will have a graduation party for her then. We are so proud of her and of course like any parents, wish we could pay for her college, but she has an amazing attitude and is maturing in her first job in the real world!!
We have had many changes over the last month with school getting out, Shandice graduating and working and last but certainly not least, Juni has gone back with his biological mom. She came to visit a few months ago and said that she wanted to take him back when school got out. I didn’t think much of it because she had mentioned she wanted him a few other times and never came. Well, this time was different. He is currently living in Belize City with her and having a really hard time. He keeps crying and saying that he wants his Mom and Dad and wants to go home. My heart is torn of course; I just want him to be where God wants him. I talk to him almost every day and he tells me he watches bad movies and that hurts more than knowing he wants to come home. Please pray for this situation, pray that his mother Munda would be a mom and protect him and teach him to grow up to be a Godly man with character and morals. Pray that all the things we put into him over this last year and a half would not be destroyed. She has no support system, she is not going to church and I saw X rated movies in her room when we dropped him off. My heart breaks for his innocence and the faith that he was starting to grow. Pray that Jervis and I would have wisdom in what to do and how to help.
The babies are doing well! All of Christina’s sores are finally gone and I am so excited about that. She is now at 17 ½ pounds, which compared to the 12 pounds when we got, she looks like a different child. Zander finally started crawling so the two of them follow each other around the house. It is so fun to watch them interact!
Well, that’s all for now! Have a great summer, eat a s’ more for me!
Love,
Melissa
P.S. I have added some pictures of Christina and some video to the website:
