Post-Christmas Update
December 29, 2008 – 8:11 pmI pray that you had a great Christmas! Our first Christmas in Belize was bitter sweet. It was hard not having all the normal traditions and familiar faces. We had a great time with the kids and tried to make as many new memories and traditions as possible.
I baked and baked and baked! Some was to bless the locals, but if I was honest it was because I wanted to remember my mom! She loves to bake and has taught me well! I made 68 cinnamon rolls and delivered them to local families that we have come to know and minister to. It was a nice treat for them; many had never tasted one before.
We won a Christmas ham and a bike! The ham is a funny story…we received a call that we had won a ham and to come and pick it up.
So I go, bring it back home and open this large plastic bag to find a leg of a pig, hair and all! I had to laugh! The bike was a huge blessing, I had wanted a bike and it has been so nice to be able to ride.
It is currently POURING down rain and I mean pouring!!!! It is coming down so hard you can hardly see five feet in front of you.
Jervis and I have been looking over the calendar for 2009 and would like to open an invitation to any one that would like to bring a construction team down or just come yourself. Our rent has been raised four times since we moved here and we would like to try to move into the lower part of our building as soon as possible.
As it stands right now, we are looking at the summer before that will be possible. If we could get some man power and some financial contributions it would greatly decrease our monthly expenses.
If you are at all interested in coming down, please let us know and we can give you some more detailed information.
Have a safe and happy New Year!
Melissa and Jervis
