News on the Fishers

October 31, 2008 – 3:46 am

Well, this has been such a week! My parents decided on Tuesday that they were going to go ahead and drive the bus down to Belize and leave on Friday. They thought they were going to leave last week, so that is why I sent out the rush e-mail to collect the things that we needed and then things didn’t work out. So this week we had another last minute decision and the bus is leaving as of 6am Friday morning.

I have been running around trying to get all the last minute things, pack the bus, and get all the necessary paper work for my parents to cross the borders. It will take about 70-80 hours to drive and the bus is packed full with donated items! We are so excited about all the things that the Lord has given to us and feel so incredibly humbled by the generosity that has be bestowed upon us. We had someone donate ALL the paint for our building, someone else that donated the $1,000 we will have to pay in duty for the paint and the gas money to get to the Mexico border, and others that donated diapers, cups, bowls, formula, batteries, clothes, clothes and more clothes for Zander (which will be passed on to future LOL babies!) not to mention much, much more!

Zander has had a few minor problems with his recovery, so we were not released to take the bus. We will fly out next Saturday, November 8th and will arrive in Belize on the 9th.

I do have a somewhat urgent request. We thought we would be able to travel home with the buddy passes; the problem is that the flights are all full and we will not be able to return home with them. So we have an additional financial expense of $800 to fly home. We are completely tapped out in our account due to the expense of getting the bus ready and paying taxes in Belize on the bus and additional items that were donated and the co-pays that we inquired for Zander’s medical care. We not only need funds to get back but also for food, rent and gas this next month and would love to continue forward on our construction. If the Lord lays it on your heart to help in any way, we would greatly appreciate it. You can write and mail a tax-deductible check to:

Here are also some things to pray about:

- Zander’s full recovery
- Finances
- Protection and favor for my parents as they drive to Belize. They are taking a lot of items that the Mexico border patrol would love to confiscate. Pray that they go through the right line, that the Lord would protect all the items and nothing would be taken, that things would go quickly and not be stressful. Passing through the border can be very time consuming and stressful, please pray that the Lord would clear a path for them. (They should be crossing the border on Monday and will continue to be stopped by guards through Mexico until Friday, then they will be at the Belizean border)
- Favor with the Belizean government for the taxes.
Thank you for your compassion, care, concern and encouragement!

Love,

Melissa

P.S. I am sooooo excited to see my husband and kids!!!!
