May 2008 Rez Newsletter
May 30, 2008 – 10:03 pmDear Rez Family,
We pray this letter finds you blessed, healthy and growing in Christ Jesus. It is hard to believe that we have lived in Belize going on our fifth month. Time passes by quickly, so much has happened in our short time here that it feels like we have been here more like years instead of months.
Jervis and the men of our team went to a remote village this last month. It takes two and a half hours to drive to and then you have to hike two and a half hours to get to the village. They had to carry all their water and supplies on their backs. This village is very primitive and the guys on our team were the first white men they had ever seen. The trip went well and Jervis would like us to all go back to do some Children’s Ministry. We are trying to figure out how to work that with all our kids and the load we have to take. To bad we don’t have a horse or a donkey!
We have been hard at work at the property. We ran out of funds to pour the foundation, but had plenty of work to do that didn’t require money. We started building our chicken cop and the gate at the front entrance. The guys cut down lumber from the property, so of the wood weighed over 500 lbs. We do have a team coming from Arizona the first part of June and we are praying that we can lay the foundation when they are here.
A young girl came to us and asked if we would take her baby that will be born in July. We waited two weeks to give her the answer. It was so hard with the loss of Zeki and our hearts still trying to heal. We prayed and prayed and asked God to give us the strength if it was his will. We finally felt a peace about it and told her we would take the baby as soon as it is born. Please continue to pray over the next few months that God would continue to heal our hearts and that we can love this baby with no fear and as much as we loved Zeki.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and financial support. We are blessed to have a home church that has embraced the call of God on our lives and helped us to fulfill it. We appreciate you.
In Him,
Jervis, Melissa, Shandice, Jermicah and Analiya
