June 2007 Update

June 30, 2007 – 9:59 pm

Dear family and friends,

We pray this letter finds you all well and blessed! It is hard to believe that it has been a year since we graduated from Christ for the Nations. We came home to Colorado in September and time has flown. We have been so busy and the months have disappeared right before our eyes.

I (Melissa) was able to shadow Dr. Saenz a local OB/GYN and close friend for 6 months. I watched countless surgeries, c-sections, deliveries and office procedures. I have learned so much and could never repay her for her generosity and time that she has given to me. I have done 21 deliveries and I was even able to assist with c-sections. I am so excited to be able to take my training on the mission field.

Jervis has been busy working and taking time to get things set up with our ministry, Laugh Out Loud. The kids have been home schooling and enjoying spending time with grandma and grandpa! We have treasured our time here and we will miss the comforts of home as we venture off into our next season in life.

Jervis and I returned to Belize in September to look at the orphanage that we saw over the summer. After much res earch we found that this was not the place for our ministry. We decided that it would be best for us to wait until we live in Belize before finding a permanent location. We know that we are called to the southern district of Belize near Punta Gorda town, which borders Guatemala. The people we will minister to are Mayan and Ketchi Indian.

Over the last year we have had five couples that have been a part of building the foundation for Laugh Out Loud Ministry. All of the couples went to Belize with us last summer. They are all prayerfully considering moving to Belize and joining us on our mission. So as it stands these couples will all give us their final commitment in August. If all the couples decide to come we will have 12 adults and 12 children. Jervis and I will leave in the fall to get all the housing set up. We will plan to rent for the first year or two until we raise enough money to purchase property and build.

Our ministry plans are to start with after school programs. With a team as large as we will have, we will be able to pick up to five villages for the first year. We will go into each village one day a week. We will start with a Biblical program and then provide extra curricular activities such as sports, computer, music and art. We will also provide medical and dental clinics in the area and have teams from the States come in to do short term missions.

We are so excited about the calling that the Lord has given us. We are blessed that He has chosen us to move to Belize to minister His love to the people, especially the children. We thank all of you for your prayers and support. Thank you for believing in us and for pouring into our lives.

Enclosed you will find a slip that you may use to fill out your contact information. We will be using whatever information we get back as our final mailing list when we leave. You may also e-mail your information to mfisher at lolministry.com . If we have not received your information by August we will then remove you from our list. You may also watch for updates on our website www.lolministry.com

If you would like to give financially to our ministry you can make your checks payable to Laugh Out Loud Ministry

Jervis and Melissa Fisher
