June 2006 Update
June 25, 2006 – 10:01 pmDear Family and Friends,
Hello! Happy 4th of July! We pray that this letter finds you all well and blessed. As for the Fisher family, a lot has taken place over the last six months. In May Jervis and I graduated from Christ for the Nations. Jervis graduated with a major in Missions and myself with a major in Children and Family Ministry.
Our years at CFNI were amazing and the Lord really shaped us for our future in ministry. We spent the last year as the Assistant Dean of Families on campus and had lots of opportunity to grow in our leadership abilities. I had an incredible experience in designing and building a brand new playground for the families on campus. We were touched by God’s faithfulness and the lifetime friendships that we developed. We will miss our CFNI family and are excited to see how the Lord will bring us together again someday.
My parents came for graduation and to help us move out of our campus apartment. We thank the Lord for their help and sacrifice. After loading the trailer they took it back to Colorado along with Jermicah and Analiya. A few days later Jervis and I took 25 students to Belize for a 3 week mission trip!
Our time in Belize was remarkable; this trip was mainly focused on the children. We went down south to Punta Gorda and went to six villages. In each village we did puppets, a lesson on your destiny and that God has chosen you for a specific plan and purpose. We were able to give each child school supplies for next year. We then would play games with the children and just love on them. Each school gave us the whole school day, so we had a good amount of time with the kids. Some of the schools even had us come back for a second day to just play games. The children were so precious and so open to receive our love.
We were also able to have a kid’s camp with the Mennonite children and that was also incredible. At the end of our trip we stayed in Belize City and had a worship night that was broadcast live on the radio in all of Belize. It was a great trip and the Lord was as always, faithful.
While we were in the southern area, we found an orphanage and school for sale. It closed down two years ago, it has about six buildings on it and they are all furnished. It sits on about 100 acres of property and part of it has an orange orchard. Please pray with us that if this is God’s will that He would give us the finances to purchase it and favor with the government. I will say that it was very exciting and the potential this property has blows us away.
So, for now this is what the next six months look like for us. We are spending the rest of June and July in Louisiana working and raising support. In August we will go back to Dallas for a few weeks to go to some weddings and spend some time with our friends. At the end of August we will head to the east coast where we have some church meetings set up to raise further support.
We will finally return to Colorado in September where I will train with Dr. Saenz to do midwifery and Jervis will work. Moving to Colorado with us will be some friends from Christ for the Nations who came from Romania, Florin and Simona and a new baby that is due in December. They want to join us in our ministry and we pray we can eventually build an orphanage and Crisis Pregnancy Center in Romania with them. If we are able to buy the orphanage and school in Belize, we will move to Belize around March of 2007.
Thank you all so much for continued support and prayers. We love you all and miss you. We pray that our time in Colorado will be filled with lots of great memories with each and every one of you. Please continue to pray with us that the Lord will open the right doors and guide us in the right direction for our future ministry. We are excited to see what the Lord has and are ready to fulfill His call on our lives.
Be blessed and we will keep you in our prayers.
In Him,
Jervis and Melissa Fisher
