Got the property
February 17, 2008 – 9:43 pmThere is so much news to tell you that has happened in this last week, I don’t even know where to start. So I will try to sum up all the big news and huge blessings in a not so long e-mail.
For starters we got our container in and God blessed us soooo much we got everything in duty free including our new items! The process went so smooth and all the horror stories that we heard, didn’t happen to us. God was in it all and guiding everything, so we are very thankful for that!
Friday was a HUGE day for Laugh Out Loud Ministry! We closed on our property, paid the $30,000 and now have piece of land to start building on!!! Praise the Lord!!
Brace yourself for this next part!!!
An hour after we purchased the property, a Mayan lady was standing at the end of our driveway of the house that we are renting. We went over to her to see what she needed and she asked us where she needs to drop her kids off at the orphanage because she doesn’t want them. I was like “what…ummmm, well….let me get my husband” As I walked over to Jervis I felt this overwhelming peace and joy. That morning we had devotions and God was already preparing the way and preparing our hearts. It is so hard to explain everything that went on and what was happening. We ended up and gathered the whole team, plus my parents and started to pray for direction and wisdom.
We had already turned down the eight year old girl, which ended up and would not have gone through legally. We found out later that the lady that told us about her didn’t realize that the care taker would not give her up. So anyway here is this lady with a nine week old baby boy and a three year old boy. We talked with her for a long time about her situation and her desire to give up her children. In the end she decided to leave us both of them and in a month she will come back for the older one. I am not sure she will ever come back, but we have a court date set for Feb. 27 where she will relinquishing her parental rights of the baby. So we were not prepared or ready, but the orphanage has officially started!! We are excited, overwhelmed and know that this is our purpose down here.
The last blessing of that day is that the day before the manager of the property that we are staying at told us he needed to meet with us the next day at 3:30. So after taking the children we quickly went to the meeting and he said that he felt bad that our family of five was living in the bungalow that was intended for a single person. He said that he was going to open up a house a few doors down if we would like to stay there. It is a three bedroom, two bath!!! Does God know what he is doing or what!! So we now have room for our new additions!
So we need workers!! If God lays it on your heart to help build or to come help care for these children, cook, clean or anything else please let us know. We also need baby items. Our good friend Shiloh will be coming to Belize the end of this week if you have any boy clothes, bottles, pacifiers or any other items that he can bring please call his wife Lynsay at 970—–. I wish I could explain everything in more detail, but I think this e-mail would be three hours long.
Thank you all for everything, we appreciate your prayers and please enjoy the pictures of the closing and our first orphans!
In Christ,
The Fisher Fam
