Flooding in Belize

June 10, 2008 – 9:56 pm

Hello family and friends,

This last week has been interesting and another learning experience for us. Since the tropical depression, the flooding in Belize has been terrible. Over 13,000 lost their homes and many businesses lost all their goods. The hardest part for us is that the bridge that connects Punta Gorda and the rest of Belize was washed away. So they have been having trouble getting water, food, gas and propane down here. We had a team come in this week and had quit the time finding groceries.

We have great news…..we have received word that Jervis passed his citizenship test with a 100%, we have to return home for his Oath Ceremony on June 18th to complete the process. It is crazy that after 10+ years of trying to get his US Citizenship he finally gets it when we move. We wish that we would not have to spend the money to return to the states, but realize the importance and it is all in God’s hands. God has been faithful and we were able to get both tickets for the price of one. Thanks to our good friend Gail who helped us with buddy passes. I am very excited to get to come home even though it will only be for a week. One of my cousins’ that is dear to my heart is getting married and I thought there was no way that I would be able to be there. It is amazing how God set the dates for the Oath Ceremony the exact week.

We are praying to be able to bring some things back with us that we can’t get here or they are really expensive here. If you would like to help with any of these items, we would greatly appreciate it. You can call either my mom (Lori) 970—— or Lynsay 970—– to find out where to take it to. We will need all items by Wednesday the 18th. If I can’t take everything, I have a team coming the next week that will bring stuff and then I have a vehicle going down that will also take things.
