Financial update May 2008
May 22, 2008 – 9:54 pmWell, I wish I was writing saying that the van situation is finally taken care of. But, it is not. We went into the gov. office and the officer said he would give me until Monday since the date of the expiration fell on a weekend. Before I left I asked him exactly how much money do I need again, he worked on the calculator and said $6,500. I asked if that was Belize or US, he said Belize. This was half the price he had stated a few months ago. So I was excited! So I left feeling like, well all the money we have with about one hundred extra is $6,500 BZ. So I guess we will give all that money on Monday and God will provide. Well I get to the office on Monday and have all the money, still wishing I wasn’t giving almost every dollar we had. Then the officer looks at me with a grim face and says I gave you the wrong price. You owe me $12,000 BZ; which is $6,000 US. Which is the price he originally gave us, but we didn’t have it. I was so discouraged, here I thought finally we can get this behind us, pay the money and move on. Well, obviously that wasn’t going to work with only half the money. So he told me because he made the mistake that he would give us one more month. So we have one more month to come up with the money. Since we didn’t have all the money I am glad I asked and he made a mistake. It just goes to show that God’s grace is always sufficient, not always in the way that we think. But, thankfully I didn’t have to park the van and we got another to get the rest of the money.
As far as the laptop a friend of mine from college e-mailed right away and told me her husband it an IT Specialist and that he could get us a year old laptop for a good price. So he has found one and will be sending it with our next team in June. Praise the Lord!!! For now, one of the missionaries here has loaned me a laptop and set up my Outlook on to it.
One more bit of information. We have had a young girl come to us and she wants to give us her unborn baby. She is due at the end of June and wants us to take the baby as soon as it is born. Please pray for my heart in this matter. We have not given her an answer and I know that we are here for this purpose but with the loss of Zeki I am having a hard time. I will let you know as soon as we decide.
Thank you again for all your love and encouragement.
P.S. It is Analiya’s Birthday, it is hard to believe she is 6. With no Chucky Cheese, Bounce, Boondocks or movie theater she is having a hard time deciding what to do. With the temperature over 105 degrees I suggested we celebrate in a bath tub full of ice!!! What I would do for some air conditioning right about now.
