Current ministry needs

Dear Family and Friends,

I am writing to tell you that it may be awhile before I am able to write again. Our ministry laptop has crashed, we took it in and they said that it is something with the mother board. Since there is no “Geek Squad” here in Belize, I have spent the last week trying to get all the files off and am still having trouble getting to my Outlook where all my e-mails and address book is located. So if you have sent me an e-mail in the last week and you have not heard back from me it is because I can’t read it. I also had several e-mails that I had saved and was going to reply but I can not pulls those up either. From now on I will have to go into town to e-mail, so just have patience if I don’t reply quickly. I do love hearing from you though and would hate if you didn’t write. I am trying not to get frustrated because we use the laptop for all our bookkeeping, pictures, e-mails, contacts and ministry files. You don’t realize how much you use something until you can’t use it anymore. It was humorous to see how I made it last until it just wouldn’t go anymore.. I had duck tape around it and if I put the right amount of pressure on just the right spot I could get it to work.

Our duty on the van in due this Friday (today). They have given us the last extension allowed so as of Friday if we don’t get duty exemption from the government or $6,000 US they will impound the van until we pay. So please pray with us that we will have favor with the government and they will dismiss any taxes that they want us to pay.

This month will be a slow month for us before we get slammed this summer. One of the other couples that joined our ministry moved here May 2nd. Stephen and Joy Holley, they have a little baby boy, Caleb. (He is one week younger then Zeki.) This month will be a good month for them to get adjusted and ready for the summer. We have five teams scheduled to come this summer and help with construction, we also have a few families that are coming down to have a “family mission trip.” We are excited for all of them to come and are eager to show them our new home of Belize.

I would like to update you on the finances and how things are coming along. We have seen God work so mightily and have been amazed that we have had the money that we have. We have not had to stop construction due to lack of funds and we have had all the money that we need to live. Thank you for your obedience and for helping us to touch the lives here in Belize.

Also, the trip Jervis took to the states was great! He got 100% on his citizenship test they did say he would have to return this summer to be sworn in and go to a ceremony. He preached at a youth conference that was a great success and we got a truck donated to our ministry. We have been praying for a truck because of the bad roads and construction. God answered our prayers and once the duty is raised they will bring it down. We have also added Shiloh and Lynsay McLaughlin to our LOL team. They will be our stateside representatives. They have been good friends of ours for the last ten years and have seen this ministry grow from a dream to reality. They will help with bringing teams, bookkeeping, correspondence and other administrative items. We are so thankful to have them and it helps take some pressure off of my mom. If you need to contact them their e-mail is belizeteams@lolministry.com and their phone number is

Please pray for us with the duty on the van and for a replacement laptop. These two things are vital to keep things going. We know that God is faithful and we can’t wait to tell you how He provided!

We love you all and thank you again for your support, prayers and encouragement!

In Christ,
Jervis and Melissa Fisher
